The baby isn't protected by the placenta, but by the amniotic sac and fluid surrounding it. Placenta just supplies blood flow and gives nutrients to the baby. If you have received blunt force trauma, it is probably a VERY good idea to go to the doc, especially if accompanied by bleeding and cramping. It's really not worth the risk to your baby not to go though.
How hard was the trauma?

The purpose of the placenta is not to protect the baby, but to provide nurishment and oxygenate the blood. Your own body, and the amniotic fluid, is what cushions and protects the baby.
Depending on where you might get hit, the placenta may be between there and the baby, but it would just be a coincidence, and, if the force jars it enough, the placenta could begin to separate from the uterine wall, causing severe bleeding, misscarriage, or premature birth.
If you think that you will be in a situation where something like this could happen, I seriously doubt that I would take the job.

Th eplacenta does not protect the baby from blunt force trama, all the placenta does is help to filter vitamins and other stuff out of your system to help the baby grow. But even the placenta doesn't FULLY ortect the baby, if you smoke or take drugs while pregnant, the baby gets all of that stuff filtered into it's system through the placenta. Blunt force trama is like a HARD hit on the head, you get hit in the stomach, the baby feels it.

The placenta protects the baby by filtering a lot of the stuff you put into yourself from getting to your baby- germs, alcohol, etc. (But enough of it and some will get through.)
The womb structure and your own skin and muscles are the only protection the baby has against something like blunt force- so if someone's taking a baseball bat to your stomach, your baby is not protected very well.

No? the placenta is what carries nutrients to the baby (versus eating and drinking). You do have an amniotic sac that keeps the baby protected from little stuff like poking your stomach and regular loud noises, etc. If you had someone hit or kick you, or you fell or something---- SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Seriously, they need to make sure the baby is doing alright. If was just a little bump, then depending on how far along you are- it's probably fine.

It mostly depends on the position of the baby and the placenta. Sometimes babies are behind it or in front of it. They are pretty cushioned in there but I would definitely check with your doctor if something like this has happened to you.

The placenta does not protect the baby, it nourishes the baby.

The amniotic sac is what actually protects your baby. You would have to take a pretty hard fall to do any damage to baby. If you are concerned, talk to your doctor.
