Is there any tricks? I have shoes that are not cheap, but the rub the back of my ankles after hours of wear, does anyone know of any remedies or tricks to prevent this or lesson the irritation.

You can apply a bandaid to the back of your ankle. Some times my sneakers tend to do that also.

U can puy wet newspaper in them leave them to dry overnite, when the paper dries it makes the shoes soft at the back & swell so they wont rub the back of your feet.

I always wear bandaids, or put tissues back there. You could also try vaseline...unless they are heels ( you wouldnt want to be slipping out of them). Usually after awhile you will break into them.

you should buy moleskin. you can get it at drug stores. You can put ontop of blisters that are already there, or use it to keep from getting rubbed. Also it is better than bandaids because there is more comfort.

take them to your local cobbler. if the shoes are expensive it'll be worth the extra 10 bucks to make them comfortable. if not expensive still worth it. it's a waste of $$ if you don't want to wear them.
