I want to purchase an HP a1450n and wonder if this unit is Vista compatible. I really do not know how important it really is. Your help is appreciated.

I checked out the specs, and I think it would be fine.

There are 3 things you need to be vista compatable.
1)Either a Dual core processor or an Intell 800 series chip (there may be other mfg chips also)
2) a gig of ram
3) a video card that is NOT on-board. You should get yourself a Video card - like 256

By the way, Vista won't be for everyone. Unless you want your computer to act as you CD/DVD recorder and connect to your house speakers and television - stay with XP. If you want to use it that way (the way it's supposed to be used), I'd advise getting the largest hard drive you can and a backup drive as well.

I wouldn't go near that for at least 2 years as I picture a lot of wireless monitors coming out, etc. This operating system will be geared for the (yet to come out) tiny computers that sit right where your DVD player sits and will be able to be accessed wirelessly by several people at the same time.

If you really want a Vista compatible computer, why don't you just wait till Microsoft releases it. After all, upgrading it may cost a whole lot more, Windows XP Home Edition costs around $100-$200 and XP Professional can cost $300, and Vista, I assume would only cost more than that. I think that it would be financial wiser to wait for Vista to come out first, unless you really need a new computer.

It is Vista Compatible. It is only imprtant if you are serious about investing in Vista next year. I would hold off on Vista until atleast 2008, and let other people do the final beta test.
The Athlon X2 duo core is a good chipset, and 2 GB is enough for anything you need to do

I would assume it is Vista compatible but you can check on the microsoft website or call HP. Btw why do you want to get a HP? Every since HP and Compaq came together there products suck. I can tell you that now a days your not buying HP quality. Your just getting a compaq with a HP logo slap on it. Old HP is far better than compaq HP.

U CANT TRUST MICROSOFT....
So please wait till microsoft releases Vista..and then u can check personally that Vista is working or not..
But dont only see that Vista can be installed and working properly...if u really want to feel the Vista power u have to make sure that Aero Feature is working or not..inorder to work Aero Feature all u need is a 128 bit Graphics Card (its minimum). So u better wait till Vista release and buy the computer...

My HP is a a1340n and it is compatible. I think any new computer will support it with additions for TV tuner.

Best safe way is go to Compaq official site type your question and get your answer else ask them to send one of their people to talk to you and answer your queries.
