I'm an odd sort, my questions and answers attest to that. I also tend to like things that the mainstream doesn't. Oh, I like some pop stuff, and I'm not really big on the indy scene, but I'm not entertained by what you might call global phenomena.

I can't stand American Idol, and was bored with 24 before the second season finished. Most sitcoms get on my nerves, and I'm fascinated by such things as figuring out who the narrator is on a given tv documentary. I think "Dancing with the Stars" should be replaced by "Katas with the Stars." I think it would be, if only breifly, to see which celebrities have a martial arts background that's not usually featured in their work.

I think the Olympics are incredibly dull, and would like to see more focus on events other than running, and such.

Still, we all have our preferences, and yours are as right as mine. But, if you'll forgive, the mainstream aways saturates us more, and, if you're not a part of them, you're left wanting more.

Niche tastes don't generate as much $$$ as mainstream.. that's why..

i think there is a cycle here. if niche tastes are catered to and made more accessible, there's a decent chance that they would be mainstreamed and become the popular norm. then there would be underground reactions to the new mainstream (which used to be the old underground reaction to the old mainstream).

wouldn't it be crazy if melt banana was played on all the radio stations all the time and britney spears became the reactionary cool?

how about tackle basketball, or bowling for bodies, or mudwrestling with fish hooks in the mud, or championship baby tossing, or "no hands diaper changing" tournement ?
