It may be you.
I know that it sounds wrong but as a man I think much like you but when I take a step back I realize that what I am witnessing is my dislike for women in authority.
People in authority talk with little or no remorse for what they say because they think control gives them carte blanc to speak with impunity.
Here is where the taking a step back comes in. Think of when you are out with just the guys and it is a ranking contest between you guys. Now imagine a woman tells you the same things. You might find that a bit harsh. Why? You have a preconception that girls are different, softer, fragile. Sad thing is you are right, but ocassionally, women want to be stronger, harder, in charge, and that is when you take notice of this behavior.
The best thing I ever did to understand this problem was to get drunk with groups of women and listen to how they talk to one another. It is much like the guys ranking on one another. You should try it if you get a chance.
In the meanwhile, ask yourself if the woman in question could be right. Or if maybe she is just being sarcastic. Sarcasm can often be confused for serious thought. At any rate, you can always pull the Jedi mind scramble on her. Ask her what she thinks. Talk to her as if you are listening, and; don't be surprised if she feels remorse for not thinking before. She also may find you strangely attractive or repulsive as the case may be. Tread lightly.

You assertion is really general...Do you mean to tell me that you scan all the faces of these audience members and note a sadistic smile on each and every single one? I've seen plenty of talk shows where both men and women beret a person for their actions regardless of gender. Honestly, sounds like you've been hurt by a woman and therefore that has twisted your perception of women. Get over it.

Why is it that when a woman gets put in her place on TV by a husband, co-worker, or boss that men think this is okay? Why do men tolerate seeing a woman get beat up, raped, or killed on TV and call that entertainment (or worse yet get sexual pleasure?)
Its all about how we are cultured. TV plays into stereotypes and people who are zoend out think its entertainment. Thats why horrror movies are so popular. People pay money to go see people get frightened, tortured, killed, mutilated. I don't think its just women who are sadistic - - I think the population in general has become desensitized to the pain/discomfort of others.

I try my best not to do this. But I can tell you why we look so happy. We could be dealing with stress or other things, and it feels good to talk down to somebody, and make yourself feel better. I know it sounds really bad, but thats the only thing I can think of. Putting other people down makes us feel good about ourselves....(wow that sounds bad)

I think that goes both ways the fact that me and my husband do not talk badly about each other really annoys most people...unfortunately it is the world we live in today. You are only seeing your side of the issue.

Do you not notice how women are also 'verbally abused' on other shows?
