I have heard from family that during Hurricane Katrina...?
When they were in the arena, all the white folks disappeared. And anyone asking why were givin rough treatment. Anyone have family members that were there that can confirm this. If so, I want to be ready and be able to understand that when the National guard comes, they are not coming to help, any stories from people about this?

No, I wasn't there but I watched the news intensely as much as I could. It was a horrible situation.
I recall seeing one white woman holding up a lethargic beautiful baby and my heart was already going out to all those people but it also went out to her and that baby.
We know that the whole deal had racism written all over it. We all know this, those who are not big enough to admit that are either racist themselves or in some kind of denial .
I do believe that there probably was something under handed going on where they were able to get most of the white people out of New Orleans and possibly out of the super dome.
He!!, I was watching my own local news here in Michigan (very racist country) and one of the news reporters went down there to do some reporting and they were on a boat. They came across a Black man walking in knee deep water, he had one leg and on crutches. The news reporter ask the man if he wanted a ride. The Black man said no, he will be alright. (he was gracious). The news reporter and his crew gave the man a 1/2 bottle of water and told the man "good luck" and moved on. WELL, next thing, they saw a white man looking from his balcony porch and they stopped to tell the white man to come on with them. The white man did not want to come with them. The news reporter did not stop until they were up in this mans house begging him to come with them. They went so far as to call the white mans relatives to let them know he was alright. Well, in order for the white man to come along with them, he wanted them to help him take out a piece of carpet. The reporter and crew moved the carpet out and even they admitted they did not know why but
if that would get this guy to come with them, then they would do it. The found the white man a shirt to put on and the man got in the boat and took him somewhere to dry land.
Now, what does that tell you and they had to nerve to play that on the local news for everyone to see. That was a racist scene if I ever saw one!! They left the Black man, one leg, knee water, walking on crutches, did not ask him twice but went completely out tof their way to rescue the white guy!!! I was appalled!!
I can only suggest to you, to move on and try to live with the facts. Racism is alive and well. That is hardly a surprise, right?? Racism in america came out that week. When someone is racist and they think they are hiding it, it still shows.
The Black poeple could not go to another parish. The looting that also occurred was done by both Black and White. The White people was said to getting food from the stores. The Black people were called looters. If you had children and no food was coming, no water, you would do what you had to do also!!
What's done is done and that part of history will never change. America has been exposed and the whole world saw first hand how this country treats it's Black citizens and those who are not wealthy.
If there was anything positive about those 5 days or so, it was the exposure and the fact that the government really don't give a hoot about all of it's people!! African Americans especially!!

They left 4 days earlier when it was announced that a massive hurricane, bigger than any we have ever seen, was going to hit New Orleans.

I was in the superdome, and I did not commit many crimes. Just small things. I saw people looting and trying to play football on the superdome field with human heads, and there were a lot of football injuries because there weren't any refs. but I just minded my own business.
