Well, I have heard yet other statistics that say the Earth can, with responsible leadership and transport, support 35 billion people. That number terrifies me! I get sick enough of people as is.

Short of eugenics, we are hosed. There was a professor at UT Austin who stated that the world was due for major cleansing and it would be accomplished only by eliminating 90% of the current population. He was absolutely vilified for this opinion, but I have been thinking on it, and cannot say that this proposal is as bad as it first sounds. Now, SELECTING the 90% that goes, would be difficult. Do we want to do major eugenics, or just cull along the same lines we have now, and maintain the status quo? Do we want to eliminate the weak of body (think of Stephen Hawkins before you answer yes), or the weak of mind (how heartless?).

In the end, we shall do nothing, but fantasize about it. Humans are separated from lower beings due to the presence of altruism and compassion. We will utilize those to the hastened end of the species.

Some of the more left wing liberal scientists are
actually proposing using ebola to cause genocide
to lower the population to their recommended level
of 250 million TOTAL....

You can not lower the population in 50 years by 1/2 even if another child was not born for 50 years.
There aren't that many people dying.

SO you'd have to kill them off somehow. Do you want to be first?

Bring in the death sentence for criminals on death row or who have commited terrible crimes against children and the innocent. Provide incentives for smaller families of no more than 3 - tax relief and free childcare. Countries like the UK should abolish council housing for the lazy youth who carry on breeding like rabbits - make them work for a living and if they can't afford to raise their kids, have them given to foster carers (I know this sounds very harsh, but the kids don't stand a chance in their care really and it will only take a generation for this teeange pregnancy thing to stop being such a dreadful trend) if their grandparents/other immediate family can't look after them.

Kill stupid people, or at least have them sterilized so they can't breed.
