i'm moving to another country in a year and that's a long time from now but my friends make a big deal out of it. i try not to think about it but its really hard. people say that i shouldn't make new friends or meet new people because there's no point since i'm leaving. are they right?? one of my closest friends that i've known like, forever is already purposely separating themself from me to make the move easier for them. NOT HELPING!!! i don't want my other friends to be like that also. what do i do??

Change is always hard. trust me I know. Although my change isn't as drastic as yours, i'm starting a new high school and me and my friend cried soooo hard at graduation. But I met new friends, and I talk to my old ones all the time. Let your friends know you're not just droping them, and let then know you don't want to talk about it. You will loose some friends when you move, but that just acts as a filtering system, they didn't care enough to keep in touch. As for the year ahead, make the most of it!
Good luck!

Just because you are moving away, doesn't mean that you can't stay friends. I live in another country than my friends and family and we still keep in contact via phone calls, e-mails, snail mail, etc. It's hard enough to leave friends without them distancing themselves from you so far in advance. I'm sorry you are going through such a crappy time right now.

Wow, they are mean. But try not to take this personally. Your friends are just upset because you are going away. Try telling them that you have another year to go and that you want to make the best of it. Wouldn't it suck if for the last year only negative emotions were flying around? That would be pretty dull and it can cause some fights. Just try telling them that you want to have fun.

Well, try telling them that they aren't being fair, and that you will still be friends.
My best friend lives in England, I live in Texas, and we haven't seen each other in over ten years, but we are still best friends.

are you moving with your parents? are you moving indivdually? if you are moving individually, why? and if u r moving with parents, WAIT WAIT WAIT, why are you moving in the first place? convince your parents not 2 move unless it is for an important reason.
