If it is coin-operated, they may be dealing with an outside vendor that is giving them the run-around.
Send your landlord a certified letter saying that this is a hardship for you, and that you rely on the on-site laundry facilities. Create a paper trail and make a fuss.
Do you have anything that listed the laundry as an amenity, such as the ad for your apartment, etc ? If so, you may be able to get a slight abatement based upon the fact that the laundry has been out of commission for more than a few days.

Seeing as laundry is a "luxury" so to speak he is not required to treat it as an emergency. A broken refridgerator is an emergency.
If it is in the lease/renters agreement then you have a beef to call the housing authority about. If not you just have to suck it up but keep calling the slum lord LOL.... Seriously though when it comes to spending money on things that are "luxury" items landlords drag it on out till the bitter end. But you better believe he is there with bells and whistles on to collect that rent :)
Just keep calling him. Good luck...

Each state has it's own laws governing what landlords are responsible for. In my state, laundry facilities are not required but mold protection, window screens, ac, etc. are. Your local library should have someone present who can look up the most recent laws in your state. There may be a web-address if you google it, but the library is probable faster and easier with access to law dictionaries.

Unless Laundry facilities are included as part of your rental agreement, there is nothing you can do as they are provided as a convenience to all renters in your building.

State laws typically outline renters' rights. Do a web search for renter's rights in your state. But generally, if it's not specifically addressed in your lease, you're out of luck.
