I have a bunch of maternity clothes that have never been worn or gently used. I know I could go to Salvation Army, but would love to find a women's shelter or unwed mother's shelter to donate them. Any ideas?

In my town we have several resale shops that take gently used maternity and baby clothes and furniture. (And it's tax deductible.) Check your phone book, call your local Women's Resource Center, or like someone else suggested the YWCA, local churches, etc. There are all kinds of places that will be more than glad to take donations. Start with the yellow pages. =)

Check with your minister or a local food bank. There might be some mother's that are pregnant again that may need them. Also contact your local DSHS office. I'm sure they know where the shelters are located.

Call your local domestic violence hotline. If you don't know it, the police will. You will not be able to go to the shelter (unless you are a victim) but the hotline will tell you where you can make a donation.

contact the local police stations, they will know where the hidden battered woman shelters are, and most police will take them there for you( they will not give you the location for fear of domestic violence and murder by the men they ran from). I lived next to one for 3 years and they try to be good neighbors, that just ain't safe to go outside, so shopping is high risk for them.

Why not call your local women's hospital and ask them. They would be most likely to know if there was anything like that in your area.

Also check with some churches. They sometimes have groups that they know will help out.
