I've bombed three times on the GRE verbal section (450 first time, 410 second time, and 380 third time) over the past 2-3 years and I need some help.
The math section isn't concerning but may be in the future (my major will either be history or library science). The analytical writing section is a breeze (I usually get within 70-80 percentile in that area so that's good).
So how do I improve my verbal scores? I don't have the vocabulary of an Oxford theologian and I have a tough time trying to time myself through the test because it takes me forever just to analyze the problem (mostly antonyms and analogies).
So am I a hopeless case that doesn't deserve to go to grad school or can I be helped?

Honestly, like you, I haven't done well the first time around, but I will take the test this October. Have faith in yourself! Really, you don't need tutoring; if you were able to get through college, you can definitely prepare for the test on your own. I've been told that you should at least put off 2 months before your actual test, but I think one month should be okay, too. The first thing I recommend is getting a good quality GRE testbook (like Kaplan or REA). Because you want to improve vocab, study the verbal section as well as the vocab words that the GRE testbook provides. Some books are strictly vocabulary, so you can buy one of those if you can. Believe me, knowing and studying vocab can help you A LOT. I took a practice test on Powerprep and I jumped over 100 points (I rely on this because it simulates the actual exam...and it was pretty accurate in predicting what I got the first time). Secondly, you should read some good books or papers...not fun for everyone, esp. if you're not an avid reader, but just try one that you think you might like.
Honestly, studying for the GRE requires diligence, not classes. My friend took a prep course and said she still did poorly on the exam (she took it twice, fyi). If you want a good score, you can get it. :-)

At least when I worked for them, Princeton Review would let you take only the verbal section, and/or you could get one-on-one tutoring that was less expensive (because fewer hours) than the whole class, but with a certain number of hours you still got a guarantee.
Think about it, doesn't the GRE cost $250? So by taking it 4 times, you're already paying the $1000 to someone!
Or, you can try to find a grad student who did well to tutor you, probably for less than the big companies charge.
