Try System Optimizer X or Xupport. They are like PC's system utilities. You'll love them.

I agree, check out the Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder. Make sure you don't have a bunch of items in your Login Items on your Account under Accounts in the System Settings. If you are using a PowerPC application on an Intel Mac, it will run slower than it would on a PowerPC. Try using the Disk Utility to check file permissions. If all else fails, I don't know what to tell you. My Mac seems faster every time I use it. It's almost like it evolves. Are you sure you have a Macintosh? :-P

I've never had that problem on mine and it's something i'm quite pleased about compared to Windows pcs.

Use Activity Monitor to see if anything is using too much resource.

--is it brand new?
--did you load a bunch of programs, or running many at once?
--are you trying to run PowerPC formatted programs on an Intel Mac, or vice versa?
--I would check Activity Moniter and maybe purchase more RAM...they say 1GB is minimum to run OSX.
