i live just over the border from Memphis in Mississippi. It's hot - but you're from FL, so you should be used to that (i'm not - i'm a 'yankee' and it's killing me). Jobs - there seem to be a lot but they don't pay nearly what they paid at home - i took a huge paycut for the same job, but it's a job. The housing market is awesome! We got a huge single house on a acre for $45K more than we sold a TOWNHOUSE with no yard for at 'home'. Traffic here doesn't seem bad at all compared to 'home', prices are def. cheaper. My mom told me gas is still over $3 where she lives - i paid $2.51/gallon for it on Sunday. There are some touch-and-go neighborhoods here - i guess like everywhere else. Overall, the memphis area isn't soo bad - but i'm just missing home - my friends, my family, my life. You know that old saying "how cool would it be to go someplace and start over?" Not so cool for me. It was fun to meet new people, but coming from where we had so many friends and family close by to having two families that we know is rough. But - overall it's not too bad (area-wise)

Depends on what part of the state you are thinking of moving to. Chattanooga is gorgeous, not too expensive, but can be pretty boring. Nashville is big, loud with a ton of traffic. Cost of living of course is lower than Florida, but higher than most of the state. Knoxville is medium and pretty low cost of living. The traffic can be a nightmare due to UT being there. Now Memphis, where I'm from, is about a medium sized city. The cost of living isn't bad at all. Jobs are pretty good (I'm in HR). Traffic can be an absolute nightmare and crime isn't too hot either.

Tennessee is beautiful, however for jobs you will need to be closer to a larger city. We live on the Cumberland Plateau and moved her two years ago and love it, however we are retired. Property taxes are allot cheaper here, we moved from Indiana. Winters are mild, housing is reasonable, it will depend on what kind of job you are looking for, you can do a web search on Tennessee Newspapers and look at their classified ads.....I don't think you would regret the move, we have run into people that moved here from California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan and Mass. If you know where to go there is allot to see in this state if you enjoy mountains, bluffs , waterfalls etc.....also the people are very friendly good ole down home people.....

We're planning on moving there too, from Mi. We went down and checked out a few cities: Nashville, Knoxville, and Gatlinburg. All were wonderful for different reasons.
Nashville for the music on Broadway.
Knoxville - just a beautiful brand new looking city - a college town - lots of shopping and businesses. I think HGTV is in Knoxville.
Gatlinburg was gorgeous - a great place to vacation there is alot to do there....
We go on the Internet and look at property there sometimes. We plan to eventually get a real estate agent to find out all that stuff for us and find us a place when we get the funds to make the move...
Good luck to you...

I have nothing good to say about TN. I have lived all over the country and Nashville was the worst place I have ever lived. My friend's sister moved there two months after I left, despite my warnings. I lasted 11 months and she lasted 8.
The people are just miserable. I am friendly and would laugh with my clients and the only thing I would hear would be negativity from the people around me.
they would be making rude comments about a conversation they weren't even apart of. It was like they were upset that another person could be happy. There was constant tattling from co-workers and the management is horrendeous.
The people outside the workplace were just as bad. I have no connections in that state and don't want any.
Oh, and the people are fat and ugly. I think there is too much inbreeding because they can't keep new blood in that state.
It's on a bad vortex.

i'm from tn, currently living in kentucky.... and i miss tn more then anything.... my fiance and i LOVED it there and miss it terribly!! anywhere is great.... if you want big towns near cities, i'd suggest somewhere like paris, clarksville, dover, goodlettsville, whitehouse, sevierville..... as for all the other stuff, it depends on where you live.... most of the people are decent.... most neighborhoods are nice.... just look around and see what you like!
