'...with it's stars?' That is wrong! They don't need football stars, they never needed football stars, they just need to be a team, a group. And they obviously need to find motivations. These 4 years of playing at Real, many players have lost the sense of playing together to make sth good and beautiful to watch, to make the fans and themselves happy. They have strangely lost the hunger, even if they haven't win anything these years. They changed the coach, they bought new players, but it seemed that nothing has moved. The new players need to learn how to play with each other and Capello( at least for the first match) seems to have lost that particular authority he has with the players. It's hard to deal with players that think of themselves as irreplaceable super stars anyway. I don't think the situation is simple, cause if they don't find a way to play as the team they are and if they don't play to enjoy football, but to do their duty and to take their wage, they're lost. It's a psychological problem as well.

Be patience dude. Fabio Capello is a great coach, and the first thing he'll do will be to make them unbeatable (Italian soccer school). Than he will work on the forwards. Remember it's only the first game of the season. He has not found the right system at the moment. He should not play with 2 defensive midfielders that is Diarra and Emerson. Instead drop one of them to the bench. Raul Bravo will be a disaster for them at the back, just wait and see when they play big teams in Europe. They should have kept Woodgate instead of loaning him out. Tactically he is the best defender next to Cannavaro in defense. They should get rid of all those Brazilians who likes to dribble and lose the ball at the end. Instead they should bring in more European players so that the team will start playing as a unit, and not as Individuals.

Past few seasons -
1) Superstar status makes the team players feel like crap.
2) Lack of solid defensive core.
3) Lack of depth in squad. As the season goes long, the Galacticos tire and falter cause they can't rest. There's no backup to fill their spots when they do. When they rest, the team becomes weakened as a result.

who knows...maybe it's because they've got a lot of older players...maybe it is the ego and fame of some of their players...maybe it's the different styles and paces that they are all used too...i don't know. we should ask them.
