I love the movies ..love the stories. HATE his writing style.. his charecter descriptions are a bit much. Who cares what Jordy has been doing since he was 3. Just tell the damn story man. Makes them very hard to get into.

Stephen King's writing has turned REALLY STRANGE after his accident! I'm thinking he's slowly turning into one of his own characters. His earlier stuff is wonderful though. Pet Sematary still gives me the absolute willies, no matter how many times I read it.
Don't forget, he doesn't get a whole lot of say in how the films are made. At the most, he gets to decide on dialogue.

I love Stephen King! Some of the books were harder to read, but they were the same ones I'd seen the movies of a dozen times...

First, I'm not a big horror fan.
I have read some of his books and I find that they are a bit too long... drawn out and too descriptive. Although I did like a few of his books.
The movies Shaw Shank Redemption and The Green Mile were both excellent.

No I think his movies always fail to live up to the books.
Lately his books have been a little obscure. I gravitated to Dean Koontz because he followes King's original premise. That as supernatural as the events are, they always seem like they actually could have happened and been explained away by ordinary phenomenon.

It depends. Carrie as a movie was better than Carrie as a book. The Shining was better as a book than The Shining as a movie. But thats my opinion.

Wow. I actually think the exact opposite. I think his books are brilliant and the movies tend to suck.
The exception, of course, being "The Shawshank Redemption," which was based on a short story titled "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" -- one of the BEST MOVIES EVER.
