They can't actually collide with each other, but when they come close to one another the interaction is called the "Fujiwara Effect" named after the Japanese meteorologist that discovered this. The two storms will rotate around each other. If one storm is significantly stronger than the other, the weaker storm will be absorbed into the stronger storm. An example is when Tropical Storm Karen developed and caught up with Hurricane Iris. Karen was flung to the north and became so weak it was absorbed into Karen's circulation.

Funny you should ask.
Hurricane John just passed us today in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on the Pacific Coast as a Category 3. Further out in to the Pacific and almost parallel to John was hurricane Kristie a much smaller category 1. Expert were mentioning a possible merge of the 2 storms earlier today.
I guess that's one example of two hurricane crossing each others path.

You cant have colliding hurricanes. The winds at the touch point would be traveling in opposite directions. This would create a large amount of shear that would eventually make both systems weaker, possibly reducing them to tropical waves. Another possibility is one will disintegrate and the other continue, but will not be intensified by the other.
The perfect storm is not about two hurricanes, it's about two storm systems.

The air force weather forecaster who worked in Japan is correct. Wind systems 'steer' smaller weather systems. Watch how a small low pressure system follows the winds around an anticyclone on a series of weather maps. And in the case of two similarly-sized systems they steer each other around a common centre.

Last year, Tropical Storm Alpha "bumped" into Hurricane Wilma off the Florida coast. Alpha was then absorbed by Wilma, and there was no change with Wilma.
