I just don't get it. I endevour to live my life with honesty, integrity and above all I try to respect others. I never intentionally hurt anyone or anything. I'd like to think that they are values most of us aspire to. But because of my sexual orientation, these things mean nothing to some people. I'm no better than a depraved pervert in their eyes.
Essentially, I don't care. I'm not going to change because I can't, but also because I accept that's who I am.
So why can't others accept that? Why are gays so hated that they have to endure constant criticism and abuse from complete strangers who judge them entirely on only one aspect of their being?
You don't see other "sinners" copping this abuse. Where are the anti-liars forums? Why don't adulterers have their lives dissected, commented on and analysed by everyone?

Sucks, doesn't it? A lot of these people claim to be loving Christians and still won't see us as more than as you said "perverts". I agree. I'm not changing for them. I have a 25 year monogamous relationship with a wonderful woman. Let's see how many heterosexuals can claim that. Any more, it doesn't matter to me what they think. They may have their opinions and I'll keep mine. The people who love me love me and those who don't have lost out on a great person. As for God, I believe that all souls go Home to God, no one is left behind.
Think of it this way, Dearheart. 50 years ago, divorced people were taking the abuse while we were either still in the closet or unborn. Then it was people living together and unmarried. Now it's Happy people.
It doesn't make it right but the non-Happy folk had just better figure out we're here to stay (and have been for thousands of year...lurking in he backgrounds...bwhahahahaha.... evil little otter laugh).
Blessings on you. Keep up the fight.

There is a lot of information on us versus them, In group versus out group in the psychological literature. If you look at the world, many Arabs think it is ok to make war against the Jews, but not there own, and the same goes for the Jews on there side. Especailly with homosexuality, western religion has poisoned peoples minds. The religious passages are even in dispute as to their meaning, as they were interpreted from other languages. You know how language changes over time. It seems ludicris, but being a part of an organized religion give the believers the power to say that they are somehow better than others. A recent book on morals showed that there was no difference between religious and nonreligious persons when given moral situations. Letting the light of day shine on their bigitotry will eventually change those with good intentions. Fear keeps them attached to their opinions, look back at the south and intigration. Sex is also such a personal thing, everyone thinks they are an expert, and have the right to control others in this arena.

looksadpaper,
Hang in there. The fact that a site would have such a section as this one speaks volumes for the fight that has occurred over the years.

If it were the 60's or before, there would have been a huge outcry and boycott of Yahoo and all their affiliates for allowing sin on the internet. So the timing of the internet was good, and some of the activism was good. So we are here today.

NOW, about that fellow mentioning faskings all the time. I would recommend not posting, even out of anger, to any of his or anyone like his posts. Completly ignore all he has to say. After the questions go down the list and disappear with little or no answers, he may get bored and move on. I think those that give him even negative attention are feeding him.

Gays are villified because of conservative religious B a s t a r d s and hypocrites. Truth is their bible nowhere condemns homosexual love. It only condemns anal sex between man and woman and man and man. So they are also ignorant.

On the other hand, they have a point regarding gay promiscuity. On the whole gays are far more promiscuous. It's a shame and needn't be this way.

What really amazes me is how they all go to church on Sunday and pretend to be good little christians whilst all the other time they screw around with each others' wives, they go to tittie bars, screw prostitutes and the like. Of course they have no place to talk and should forever shut their mouths. Perhaps they should also lose their religion.

Gays are the last that society believes it's acceptable to persecute. When "gays and lesbians" were put under the protection of "Hate Crimes" here in Canada, the Christians were very upset, fearing that the 'Bible" would be declared hate literature,(Lev: 20 v13). I believe religion is the main reason the prejudice continues. This increases the homophobia in those who are questioning their own sexuality, and peer pressure pushes it over the top. I have noticed since the legalization of same sex marriage that anti-gay sentiment seems to all but disappeared. The religious right is holding on to their stand, but normal people do not seem to care one way or the other. Sure there still are the occasional gay-bashing, but it's looked on, like drunk driving now, with disgust.
Last year, Rosie O'Donnell came here to Halifax,N.S. with a cruise ship of gay couples and their families. They were rec'd by Mayor Kelly and other members of Councel and given atour of the city. Over 20 couples took advantage of our marriage law and tied the knot. They knew that it would only be recognized in Canada, but they were quite happy with that. In our system, by the way, laws are applicable in all Provinces, as the legal system is Federal not Prov. Most of the marriages were perfomed by a minister of the United Church,(The largest protestant church in Canada). Anyway, hang in there, it has to get better. The Republicans can't stay in control forever, I hope.Rosie's crowd couldn't get over how gay-friendly Halifax is. I for one, was very proud of my fellow Haligonians."God bless us everyone", Good luck. Love, Doug W.

Keep your chin up, and let them get you down. It's a hard path to walk but in the end you'll be a better person. No matter how hard it gets just keep being a good person, because you are. People will always criticize but others will love you for who you are. Those people are your true friends. Try not to judge others it brings you down to their level.

i'm no longer in my opinion accustomed to ANY Christian church which vilifies gays. i understand of an excellent variety of church homes which limit gay ACTS, because GOD does in accordance to the words of the Bible. If God calls gay acts AN ABOMINATION, who am I to sit down in judgment of God and say that God is inaccurate? perchance you've that prime of an opinion of your self in being waiting to guage God yet i'm no longer. people are sinners. even if, the common fantasy that "all sins are a similar" isn't the practise of the Bible. If God calls some sins ABOMINATIONS and "pollutes the land", i'm no longer likely to inform God that I disagree. for this reason, i visit do my maximum proper to love homosexuals merely as i love all different sinners -- and that contains being loving through speaking the reality and exhorting them to forsake their sins and "sin no more beneficial" because the Bible instructions. So why do such an excellent number of Christian church homes vilify the instructions of God to dodge sin? i do not understand. perchance you've some insights in this question. it really is a question nicely worth thinking after we evaluate what love comprises.

I hear you, girl. I wonder the same thing. I think you bring a VERY good point but unfortunately people only hear what they want to hear and like those before you this will fall on deaf ears to many many folks. But if you can reach one person then it's been worth it!!!!

It is because you are the blessed of God that you are prosecuted by Satan's minions. We are here to show those Christians who are being mislead the error of their ways. Through our persecution and our loving them in spite of their hateful natures we are taking on an aspect of Christ. Our suffering has its purpose and I for one am proud to be chosen as one of Gods persecuted children. Love them and respectfully show them the error of their ways when ever possible do not succumb to their level.
