I've heard people complain they've been short-changed at Commerce Bank after they pour their spare change in? Does Commerce automatically take a percentage, are the machines not that accurate or what?

The Commerce Bank machines are free. I use them all the time. However, I've seen them shortchange people. I lucked out as a result one time. When I poured my change into the machine it didn't work at all. The teller came out, opened the machine and found about $10 in change stuck inside -- none of which was mine, but they gave it to me anyway. So whoever was before me got shortchanged.

Yes, they take cut. The percent varies around the country, but is posted on the machines that I've seen.

Those machines don't count your change for free.

If you sort it yourself, you keep all of it when depositing or spedning rolled coin.

If you have a machine sort it, usually the percentage for the machine starts at 7.5% and goes up from there, depending on the machine, and where.
