Well it isn't because we are a bunch of nice people. It is because we don't want those people here. Think about this for a moment. It is all part of protecting this country.
There are so many people in third word countries that if they organized out of hatred for the United States, they could swarm us and overwhelm us and take what we have by sheer numbers and not with sophisticated weapons. I am talking sticks and stones fighting. Once they started to invade we could not nuke them because we would be nuking ourselves and that would not bode well and is against our own constitution in the first place because the United States military is prohibited from using it's own arms against it's own people.
We are nice to other countries because we have to be, not because we want to be. In treating them with humanity we are doing our selves a huge favor in the long run. There will come a time in the not too distant future as we pump money into these third world countries that they will catch on to what we are doing and they will rebel and want to claim what they think they are entitled to which will be everything we own. Terrorist have already proven that they can infiltrate and walk among us and once they are here they can attack from the inside and we will have allowed it to happen like 9-11 and then we will have to react and that won't be very pretty.
In a nutshell your retirement takes a back seat to third world countries.

we are not giving that $100 million to the Haitian authorities. we are sending them foodstuff and assisting in rebuilding, search for and rescue efforts. the united states, being a ultimate international power, has the responsibility to lend out a hand to different international locations in desire. We did it after the Tsunami back in 2001 and, we could do it back. Haiti is a united states of america that has been disregarded through maximum developed international locations and, when you think about that this is the POOREST united states of america contained in the Western Hemispere, not sending aide to them will be embarrassing. i do not realize why Obama is less than a lot scrutiny about this. Bush became in no way criticized for sending relief after the 2001 Tsunami, so why is all of it right now undesirable to help human beings in desire? And, for those questioning that Obama is utilising this as political device, you have not a unmarried iota of compassion. The GOP extra constructive not commence criticizing the help we despatched, because it may be a shame to the american image if this grew to develop right into a politicized situation.

Because the government knows it's a horrible Idea.
Only an idiot would depend their retirement on Social Scurity benefits. The fund will be drained by the time the baby boomer generation passes on leaving the rest of us born after the 60s with pretty much nothing.
A smart idea would be to kill the Social Security idea, and to take that money that usually would be confiscated on paycheques for it and putting in into a sort of IRA, or other sort of investment that will actually pay back a decent amount.

This is clearly an issue that you feel strongly about cos your SHOUTING!!
US companies rape and pillage third world nations (e.g. Nike) for cheap products which can then be drastically marked up. You think we got problems with terrorists now what do you think would happen if western nations did not offer aid to developing countries???? You are obviously more concerned with your own personal welfare - short answer is get a pension plan and a social conscience you selfish git!!

There is no Social Security "fund".
"Social Security money" is, by law, used for two purposes:
1 - Pay current recipients and beneficiaries and
2 - Invest in government debt instruments.
That's "how come" we can't "PUT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN THE SOCIAL SECURITY FUND TO HELP OUR OWN RETIREMENT PLAN?"
By the way, it isn't millions we're talking about here - it's hundreds of BILLIONS!!!

That's a very good question. I believe our Congress needs to answer the S.S.I. solvency question to the satisfaction of all.We need tighter control on wasteful govt. spending. One option would be an automatic line item veto on any spending bill which contains a rider(a measure tacked on to a bill) that has nothing to do with the main bill being voted on.

It costs Billions a day to pay for rebuilding IRAQ. If we don't rebuild Iraq there won't be an America and we won't need retirement. Get a life.
