They are my daughter's favorite jeans and she flat out refuses to part with them. The left knee is totally gone as in worn out and torn. Any nifty tips on how to repair them or idea's for patches?

Those jeans are expensive and until I'm in a position to dish out the $50 bucks this pair will have to do.

Store bought patches are boring, I think you should try doing something fun and unique with a personal touch. If you're willing to spend a few dollars the both of you could go to the store and pick out a really beautiful specialty yarn and just stitch the hole up loosely with it. You'll get this this really cool funky fun look and the next time she gets a hole you could do the same thing again so that her 'patches' will match perfectly. There are lots of really nice yarns out there now, and it would be nice for the two of you to do a crafty thing like that together. She could even stitch them up on her own (with your help of-course) useing a blunt tip tapestry needle. She could even do this when shes in high school, her own fashion. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Give her the option. Either use them as after-school pants (since they're inappropriate for school now), or choose a patch the next time you go shopping. Joanne's fabrics, Michaels, or even WalMart will have some cute red white and blue patches.

Time to let her start making some decisions about her clothing. Making her "give them up" is childish, just set guidelines for appropriate dress. If she wants to wear ripped up jeans when she's playing after school, who cares?

Duct tape works for lots of things. Not just fixing old lawn mowers, but for repairing clothing and holding that old folding chair together when Aunt Milly sits in it. Try that. If you'd like a little more orthodox suggestion, go for a denim or other kind of patch.

Get a nice patch. Let her pick it out. go to the store together and make it a family bonding time :) Pick out a nice patch to place over the knee. She will enjoy it because she picked it out. It will make the jeans even more special.

Go buy her a new pair and throw the old ones out. Who is in control here you or her? Tell her life is tough and she needs to give them up.

If they are Tommy's then you should use a red, white, blue plaid pattern as a patch for where the whole is.

I live by the philosophy that there are few problems in life that cannot be fixed with the liberal application of duct tape.

Sew it up with thick yarn or floss. Make it look patchwork. Or cut 'em into shorts...
