I don't support the Iraq war, but why are they blowing up their own civilians? The Vietnam War was lost because they fought us (the enemy), while this war is being lost because muslims are suicidal/ homicdal maniacs

There were no 'civil wars' when the US occupied Japan, Germany, or China. Only arabs & blacks would rather kill each other than rebuild their own countries.

You ask an innocent, yet probing question.
Sunnis and Shi'ites have for centuries...millenia..despised each other on the grounds that Muslim leadership and succession is challenged by each side (Sunnis support Muhammad's close advisors/friends, Shi'ites support his cousin/son-in-law Ali). In Iraq, the majority of the people are Shi'ites, with Sunnis and Kurds (most of whom are also Sunni Muslims) in the minority. The Shi'ites, after decades under Sunni oppression, do not really want to allow any powersharing with the Sunni/Ba'athists who were the ruling class during Saddam's rein. The Kurds really want no part of any Arabs and want their own state. The bloodshed we see is both retribution against Sunnis, Sunni counterattacks and basically the initial shots of a long battle to determine whether Iraq will remain a multi-facet country/government (Sunni/Shi'ite/Kurd) or if the Sunnis will be driven out, and Shi'ites and Kurds basically running the country in their own autonomous regions (more than likely).
The Middle East is USED to bloodshed, used to the implementation of warfare to settle disputes, it's natural to them. Democracy isn't. So that may be perplexing to Westerners, who abandoned 'warfare first' as a political tool many years ago.
The bigger question is why doesn't the U.S. simply allow the government to do what it must to establish a government and nation of the majority. This would bring peace (after much bloodshed) to Iraq? Why don't they secure and empower the government that is Shi'ite dominated, and let the Sunnis struggle and fend for themselves? Well, because we try to be EVERYONE's friend, AND because if only Shi'ites ran Iraq, they're allegiance would be more to Iran than the U.S., despite the U.S. liberation of Shi'ites from Saddam's rule.
It's complex, I know, and I think we are used to thinking of Iraq as one land, because the Brits made it so artificially. In reality, we cannot subdivide Iraq between Sunnis, Shi'ites and Kurds until there is a PRO-U.S. regime in Iran, that won't support Shi'ites against the U.S. That's a long road, don't expect any good answers to your question soon.

They have a long history of hating each other. There are different factions, the Sunnis and the Shiites, within the religion of Islam. There are also the Kurds. None of them get along. Now you can see why this country deserved a dictator like Saddam.

uh, kind of, but i think the reason one was lost and the other is being lost is that there is no upper level planning on what to do and how to make it a winning situation. The public doesnt care or believe, as in i cant believe how much money is being wasted in the attempt to bust up opec with low oil prices we wanted to steal from iraq.

It is the insurgents that doing the blowing up. Since over 90% of the insurgents are not Iraqi's than statically its the foreign insurgents committing the acts of murder albeit with the permission of the 10% that are Iraqi.

Because most of the bombers and fighters are from Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran.
The don't want to see a democracy in that region. If that were to happen, they couldn't brainwash their kids with that "There's a buncha virgins waitin' for ya if'n ya blow yerself up!!"

All these Muslim countries have ever known is how to cut each others throats. They haven't left the sixth century yet. In fact, back then they weren't as barbaric as they are today! Just look at their history.

so the north and the south were homicidal maniacs? (actually, yes) but the answer to your question is: they are having a civil war to decide how their country should be governed. AND WE SHOULD STAY OUT OF IT!!!!!

most of the stories are skewed ... alot of those killings im sure are done by us and blamed on them ... as an excuse to stay in iraq and to keep the violence going ... we even write stories and publish them in the iraqis' newspapers as part of a psy-ops operation on them ... its all horseshit ... its a prety big stretch for any idiot not to realize by now that the US administration has its sights set on complete control of the middle east ... iran and syria are really all thats left to subvert.
