The math section is not difficult but you will probably need to study a bit. it's basic stuff but you have to be sure you are good at those things and read carefully.
I suggest http://www.testprepreview.com/chspe_practice.htm . It's the best practice I've found for the test. Use it to find out what you have trouble with....then work on it. Also try the practice on chspe.net but a few of their answers are wrong(I think).

Check the California State Superintendent of Schools website. And say hello to my friend Jack O.

Its basic geometry. The English section, at least three or four years ago, had an essay section which was incredibly stupid. That question was something like you had to support and argument on either side. I hate essays, so I choose neither side. I don't suggest you do the same thing. Good luck if you have to take it.

It is proposed to be basic math that is mastered at the 9th grade level. Reality its closer to a 6th grade level. And what is the percentage of people who "pass" on the first go round?? roughly 60%. Pathetic.
