No. Way too fast, with horsepower that increases very rapidly at higher rpm, making it hard to control. 0-60 is less than 4 seconds, if you can do it without flipping the bike over backwards.

A better first bike is a cruiser, not a fast and sharp edged sport bike. Much easier to control, much less temptation to ride over your head. Something like a 750cc Japanese cruiser.

Whatever you get two things are very important. Wear good safety gear. Everyone falls off sometime, dress for it. Jeans and a fashionable (thin) leather jacket with no padding is not appropriate.

And take a class. Community colleges are a good place to start looking for one.

Google "learn ride motorcycle" for lots of information.

I agree with the others - the power is a bit too high, the handling a bit too unforgiving. A 500 cc or smaller sportbike would be a better choice, and there are some pretty good choices there - the Suzuki GS500F, Buell Blast, Kawasaki Ninja 250 and 500, or the new Hyosung Comet 250.

not if you've never ridden or have less than a years experience under your belt. Start out with something less expensive and less power because you will drop it and the plastics on sportbikes are hella expensive to replace/repair. Try a buell blast 500, Suzuki GS500, or something like that.
