Good for you Blonde Mom....we are finishing our ''theatre'' room now and we have every intention on doing the same thing!!! i think that we will still go to the movies just my husband and i when we want a break from reality. But mostly we have become major ''renters''. it's an excellent pass time for families, and great chance to bond . We found that we like discussing the movie after .Kids can be sooooo funny!!!!!

My family has been stationed in Germany for 6 years, when we went to the States to visit last year and this year, we were shocked at the prices (we saw Cars also). It's completely ridiculous how much they are charging. The theater industry is complaing that they are losing a lot of money because more and more people are staying home, well, Duh! Maybe if they didn't charge so much for tickets and snacks more people would go. We're lucky, we go to our little theater on post and the tickets are reasonable, although the cost of snacks is starting to get up there. And we found a really nice German theater that plays movies in English and they give discounts to parents if they take their kids to the movie, so even with the exchange rate we are still paying less than we would to go to a movie in the States.

I agree. I enjoy watching movies at home with my husband and friends, but I still enjoy going to the theater. Especially for horror movies. I really like the drive-in this time of year, when the weather permits. If there are drive-ins in your area I highly recommend checking it out. In my area the drive-in shows 2 movies for cheaper than seeing 1 in theaters. And you can bring your own food and drinks instead of buying concessions.

The price of movies in my town range from $6.00 in the day to $7.50 at night. I go to the movies a lot, but I also buy a lot of DVD's. I prefer watching movies than watching boring sit coms. I don't think that I would go out to the movies if I had little kids, there just aren't that many good movies out there. I do like taking my nieces that are 7 and 8, to see the IMAX- they have really good documentaries that the kids just love.

I always wait to watch them on DVD. At least there you can pause the movie to go take a pee break without missing a thing. Plus it's just cheaper. Buy your own pop, pop your own corn and rent the movie for the price of seeing one movie in the theater.

Blockbuster is awesome! I pay $27 a month and I get two rentals at a time for as long as I want them out. When I return those I can get another two. Blockbuster also has something like netflix out now, but not sure how much it costs. My family also likes going to the drive in. Here in Vegas its only $6 for adults and you get to watch 2 movies.

we own 2 big screen t.v.s. We haven't been to a theater in probably 3 years...
Other than being able to watch movies in the comfort of our own home, movies really kind of suck now, so we hardly ever get excited when something even comes out on dvd.

I LOVE going to the movies, but the prices have gotten ridiculous for movies that really haven't been that great lately. Like it's $8.75 in my area for a regular ticket now, which makes me SO mad

bear in concepts that i stay in a tiny city in ND and we've rather affordable expenses. adults are $5 little ones are $3. then popcorn is: small(no butter)$a million.50 small(w/butter)-$2.00 great(w/ butter)- $3.00 and beverages variety from $a million to $2.50 and candy is all $a million.00 i artwork at my action picture theatre too. so i dont could desire to pay for something besides candy. however the action picture theatre in a greater physically powerful city is the comparable expenses as yours
