In the amount of financial success it most likely would be Elvis as an individual and the Beatles as a group.
I would say say that Freddy Mercury of Queen is definitely up there as the finest showman of all time. He may not be as well known in the US but England still honors him. On September 5, they are celebrating what would have been Freddy's 60th birthday and there will be concerts and masqued balls held in his memory this weekend.
