School starts tomorrow and I haven't gotton up at 5 am since last school year. I'm used to staying up all night and not going to sleep until around 4 am or so. School came up soo fast..


Does anyone have any tips on how to make yourself fall asleep or to become tired?

It normally takes me along time to fall asleep. I can just lay there for a couple hours w/ my eyes closed and don't get tired.. please help!

Try doing exercises a couple of hours before bedtime. Also don't eat any high sugar or caffeine stuff later than 6 or 7 P.M. I sometimes get sleepy read a book or the Bible.

In case, have an alarm set for 5 and if that doesn't wake you up don't turn it off press snoose so in 5 minutes it goes off again! Also be very active today and don't lay down or sit for more than a half hour at once! There is this tea you can buy called sleepytime tea and drink it an hour before you want to fall asleep and you'll be sleeping in no time. Buy a sleeping pill and use the lowest amount possible, make sure you have at least 8 hours devoted to sleep. Keep in mind all sleep medicines have a risk of dependency(you need them w/e you want to sleep) so try to avoid them if you don't want that. Good luck!

I do two things although I don't have problems. I sip on a glass of milk while in bed and read - within a few minutes of picking up the book my eyes get droopy and tadam!

For YOUR problem however I suggest the following options:
* Get some lavender oil and drop a drop on your pillow or, take a bowl and fill it with water and then drop a few drops into the water, put it somewhere in your bedroom (preferably close to your bed).

* Drink some camomile tea 2 hours before going to bed.

* Drink some hot milk or even better, hot milk with Horlicks in it.

* Clear your mind and stop thinking so much. Sometimes is an overactive brain that keeps you awake.

* Count sheep - I have to do this when I'm really stressed. Close your eyes and imagine sheep jumping over a fence, count them one by one...

* Herbal sleeping aids

* See your doctor if you think there's something physically wrong.

Well, I would have suggested you change your sleep habits a few weeks before school started. BUT, since you don't have the time, I will tell you to start relaxing about two hours before bed time..by reading a book or listening to soft music. TV is a tempting thought here, but you don't want your eyes being active without your brain (hence the reading is ok). Try eating a PROTEIN only based food right before bed and no sodas, sugars, or carbs for about three hours before bedtime. Try non fat cottage cheese or milk. It will take a while to train your body, but you'll get there with persistance.

Truthfully, I am the same way!
I am never really tired until way too late.
The only thing that I have found to make me sleepy earlier is a very long very hot bath.
That tends to melt my alertness away.
The best strategy of course, is to not resist waking early and going to bed early.
Eventually you'll get used to the new schedule and your body will adjust.
(Mine never does because I do not have a set schedule, though!) Good Luck !

What I do when I can't get to sleep is I turn the TV on to something really dull. Then I close my eyes.

i AM the same if u watch tv normally channel 3 if ur still awake at 12 turn it on it send me straight to sleep or watch the news

have cammomile tea . try going to sleep one hour early each night. do not watch tv before and just relax
