Probably some of the same reasons gay marriage isn't legal. There is no realistic reason for it not to be...some people are against it for religious reasons...some for tax reasons (tax breaks singles don't get)...etc

None of the reasons I've ever heard, made any good sense to me...but in spite of how much some of us may not like it, this country is based on a lot of values and morals that come from the xian bible (or supposedly do) so a lot of people are unfairly unable to do things that would harm no one, simply because many members of the world's largest mythology following don't think they should be able to...

I don't care if they practice it. The law is the law though.
Ever read the story of Jesus' time and looked at the pharisees and saducees?
They made laws for others even they could not follow.
Jesus said if a man divorce then remarry that is adultry so don't we all really practice polygamy?
I saw let the worship the way they want and not to let them is a violation of the USA constituiton on freedom of religion.

Polygamy is fraud, the very nature of the process is dishonest.
Its also unhealthy, to be marrying your own kids or cousins.
Medically alone is sufficent reason to make it illegal.

The polygamist gets too many tax exemptions on all those wives. Oh, one other minor point, most polygamists marry girls that are around 12 or 13 years old. That's illegal in many ways. Go figure!

I have to answer with a counter question: How many men (in countries with a Judaeo-Christian tradition do you know who could stand sharing? I don't know many women who like the idea, either.
The law against it has to do with all kinds of property rights.

I agree...as long as everyone is of age (18), and everyone agrees to what is happening then it should be legal there is another form of americans judging one another...I think they do it to protect monogamous marriages...How many women you know would be more than willing (I dont know too many) and how many men you know would be more than willing? ( I know way too many)...I believe it is unconstitutional, But I would not want to be with five mothers and 30 brothers and sisters...I like the old fashioned one on one relationships

Because the picture is not as rosy as you think it is.
Most women in polygamous marriages are brain washed into thinking its god's will and in their best interest.
Young girls are forced to have sex and marry men decades older than they are. Check out the Warren Jeffs story he was arrested a day or two ago.. He "rewarded" men in his cult who were loyal to him with young girls for wives.

Its not a good idea but I believe its actually an uncontitutional law.
Its a religious law and falls under seperation of church and state.
