Brasilia is Brazil´s capital. Brazil was a Portuguese colony and their official language is Portuguese, while most of Latin America was conquered by Spain and speak Spanish.

Yes, the other two are right. When the colonies were being doled out to the Spanish, the Portuguese threw a fit because they didn't get anything, so the powers that be gave them Brazil.

I believe that has something to do with the way the Pope divided the new world between the spanish and the portugese
