Yes of course.

They do have strict rules in Cub Scouts like:

Adults may not sleep in tents with scouts unless it is a parent

There are scout bathrooms and men's bathrooms, one may not go into the other

One leader cannot be alone with a scout. There must be 2 adults present with any scout.

These things are strictly enforced and scouts are taught about sexual preditors so they are aware of the signs. They are encouraged to talk to any leader if they feel they have been in any questionable situation.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

When I was helping out at Cub Scout Day Camp, my wife and I were both checked out.

We were not allowed to take a cubby to the potty, unless there were two people present.

Too many things happen when you dont have "checks" to see who the Scout Leaders are, and too many chances of things going "wrong" when you dont!

Scouts dont allow homosexuals into the Scout for a good reason! Overnighters, and a Scout spending a night in a Scout Masters Tent...Not done!

Anyone who deals with kids should have a back ground check.

I wish you well..

That seems like a silly question. OF COURSE! everyone else that works with children of in the social service industry does so why would this be different?

Even people who are currently working can be asked to do a background check. It is not a violation of privacy or human rights because the employer only will get to see results if they actually relate to the work involved. If there is something that is on there check that is not related to the work then the employer doesn't have that right to know.

They should and they do. Anyone who applies to be a scout leader must now pass a background check. Included in that would be whether or not they've had a founded child abuse case against them.

Yes. With everything going on these days it is scary enough to let children do these things with people you don't know.

I think any job or volunteer program involving children should require a full background check, fingerprints and all.

I had to get one done to help in the local school library.

YES! I work with youths in my spare time and I welcomed a background check simply because I think that it has the best interest of the kids. It should raise a 'red flag' if someone has an issue with it.

I believe that rule has already been passed, if it is not being done, then it is a local issue rather than an national one. If it not being done than if anything happens the person, club can be sued for not doing that simple check to protect a child, and others within the club.

Of Course..anything doing with supervising children all should be checkout by the fbi, fingerprinted and put into some major inventory system.

Our communities need to take responsilbity if they expect everyone to do the same.

Unfortunately, yes they should. It is sad to say, but in today's world we cannot be careful enough about who we leave our children with. There is just too many examples out there where "he seemed so nice" and a child loses innocence.
