Basketball players cause the money is guarenteed.
If a Football player gets cut he doesn't get a dime, but if a Basketball player gets cut they still get the remander of the contract (example: Penny Hardaway this year)

Per game basis, football players get more. Think about it, a NFL season is 16 games versus the 72 of the NBA. So the short term NFL make more, but then NBA have the longer career.

football because even though there is forty more players than basketball the salary cap is close to ten times what basketball salary caps are

young basketball players make a ton. veterans dont make as much such as alonzo mourning. but in general basketball players get paid more.

basketball players by far. the larger nfl rosters don't allow the teams to offer as much.
