think it's okay to tell parents how to raise their children?
This is just the way it seems to me. Is it perhaps because both conservatives AND liberals have a tendency of being hypocritical?
What I'm asking is, why is it NOT okay for the government to interfere in what two consenting adults do in their bedroom, but it IS okay for the government to take children away from their parents, just because their parents spanked them?
I don't understand this. Why aren't more people outraged over the government interfering?
I'm not talking about children who are in truly abusive situations. I'm talking about the parents who have lost their children, just because they chose to discipline them.
Did you know that in many states, if someone calls CPS on someone, it stays on the person's record PERMANENTLY? And then if they're reported again, their kids are taken from them?
I had a friend who lost her kids the FIRST time she was reported.
Is this fair?

Okay, apparently I wasn't clear enough. I'm not talking about "poor parents"; they DESERVE to have their children taken away. I'm talking about the ones who are GOOD parents, that have had their children taken away just for disciplining them. I've seen what the foster care system does to kids. It's not pretty.

Why should it be up to the government at all?
I don't care what two adults (or more) do in their bedroom, what I DO care about is the huge amount of children who are snatched from their parents and placed into foster care for no good reason.
Why is it that no matter HOW clear I try to be, people still see only what they want to?

The friend that this happened to is someone I've known and been friends with since we were eleven years old. We went to middle school together, in Washington state. Yes, I do know the whole story. Even the cousin that reported her corroborates it.
And perhaps I do seem angry...but I'm not. I'm FRUSTRATED. I'm frustrated with people, with our country, with our government in general...so I understand how that emotion could be construed as anger. But it's not.

cantcu illustrated my point of only seeing what one wants to see. At the risk of being repetitive and redundant, I said SEVERAL times that I'm NOT talking about the parents who lost their children because of abuse. I'm talking about the ones who lost their kids for using the same disciplinary measures that parents have used for centuries.
Abuse in any form is wrong, I agree with that, and I also agree that CPS should be in place to help with those. However, I've seen too many cases in which there was no abuse, just discipline, and the kids were taken away.
My friend is just one of them. THIS is what I'm frustrated over.
My adopted little sis was one that was abused, and was taken from her birth parents when she was five. My family took her in (at my urging) when she was fifteen.
So I do understand cases in which the child was abused. I myself have almost reported parents for abuse...or at least neglect.

No one seems to know what you're talking about. It's about the government trying to rule our lives because they think we are too stupid to make our own intelligent choices. Too many over zealous busybodies worrying about what other people are doing and not taking enough care of their own lives. Take the timber out of your own eye first. Society was a much better place when we allowed spanking (I didn't say beating!) Now we've got children running the country because parents are too afraid to discipline.

My friend was afraid to discipline and spoiled his child. She ran amok and if he tried to stop her she called the authorities. He was always being watched. When he asked for help from them and finally for them to take her and put her in a youth home. THEY WOULDN'T! She had tried to kill him twice and stole most of their valuables! They knew she wasn't abused physically or they would have taken her. Maybe if she'd been given a few spankings growing up this wouldn't have happened.

When she turned 18 finally. He had to evict her. Shame

Yes I understand what your saying. The problem is the parents that are bad meke it bad for the good parents and the court systems are so scared of cps that they will not rule against them. I know the difference between two concenting adults and a bad parent, but I also know that too many parents have lost their children just because the neighbor or friend down the road got mad and mad a phone call out of revenge. Further, are the two concenting adults or are they teens thinking there adults. Further, too many teens have learned if the parents try to do right and get them to do their homework, or get off the computer, sr even spank them, all they have to do is call cps and there off the hook. I have no dout that I will get slamed for this but it is true

it sort of feels your asking why human beings do not desire a sparkling government provider/businesses to be began/made and why do they oppose gay marriage, healthcare is maximum suitable left to private marketplace and the heath care invoice is a wast of trillions of greenbacks that democrates desire to communicate to as 800mill of the peoples tax money, so thats very unpopular. gay marriage is a oxymoron, marriage = 2 human beings of the choice intercourse getting at the same time and having babies gay marriage = 2 human beings comparable intercourse, can't have babies adoption would not count variety nor does egg donors etc... thus civil unions, its the comparable element yet with a distinctive call. they'll in no way have the skill to get married using fact it would not greater wholesome the defining of marriage, and that they gained't substitute the guidelines interpretation of marriage using fact there is not something incorrect with it.

Yeah, they've really got a THING for the children, don't they?

It was Queen Hillary the Great herself that lead the charge so that minors could get court-appointed attorneys and sue their parents.

Imagine that - children suing their parents! Like there aren't enough laws in place hamstringing what parents can and can't do with their children.

And, for sure, parents should NOT be allowed to choose their children's school. Just send 'em to the local public school and they'll be well taken care of - well, maybe they will and maybe they won't, as we continually get to see.

When the Queen next gets up on her hind legs and starts talking about "the children" it will be time to gather up the little ones and repair to a safe location. That woman means to decide EVERYTHING for you about your children - you see, she KNOWS what your children need better than you do!

This is because even though Americans have tried over and over to create a Utopian society, they still won't give up and admit that it is impossible. By the government prying into every ones affairs, even the way children are brought up.

Poor parent's "Deserve" to have their children taken away!

I really have problems with people like you because you know absolutely NOTHING!!

I investigated Child Abuse for the State of New Hampshire for 16 years and NEVER removed a kid because they were spanked! Spanking and abuse are 2 different things, but somehow, many, like you think they can abuse their children and call it corporal punishment!

Most of the kids I saw were sexually abused, usually by a step father, boyfriend or relative and the family tried to cove it up! I saw kids at 4 months old who were shaken so hard that they were comatose, with broken ribs, retinal hemorrhages and bruising! One kid with 82 bruises all over her body of different ages, kids given birth at home and shoved under the bed to die, kids a 5 week old with bilateral fractured femurs, done by moms boyfriend while she was in the shower because he was pissed at her. This kids legs were snapped like chicken bones, another dad who was so mad at mom he stuck his hand up into a child's genitals so hard that she almost died from bleeding to death, and was so damaged that she will never have children!

Don't tell me about parents and spanking because I KNOW it is BS!!!

And most weren't poor and most were white!!! The rich get away with a lot of abuse and neglect because MD's won't report them!

There are a lot of people in positions of power that abuse that power. Regardless of what the position is...There are a lot of agencies in the US at all levels of Govt. that need serious overhauling....There are TOO many controls in place...

What goes on inside the bedroom is very different from what goes on outside the bedroom....

Is your friend in Germany or in the US?

Is it possible that you only know one side of the story?

I noticed from your other postings that you seem very angry. Can you explain that?
