My theory, and this is going to piss off a lot of Texans, is that Bush is nuts because he's spent too much time in Texas.
You see, practically nothing actually lives in Texas without artificial support. Trees, grass, flowers, and so forth -- they all require humans to water them on a regular basis in Texas because there isn't enough rainfall to sustain most life. The things that are able to live tend to be ugly, dangerous, or poisonous.
Mother Nature doesn't welcome humans in this part of the world, but we insisted on moving in anyway. The result: people who live there for too long start to become....not really crazy, not really mean....just a little...off. Bush is a Texan.
I speak from experience -- after living there for only 5 months I began to like country music and use the plural of the slang term "y'all" (the plural is "all y'all").
I recently decided to move away from that strange part of the earth as quickly as possible, and now I'm in a more hospitable climate where people tend to be more mainstream.
Never expect a moderate to come from anywhere where churches outnumber bars, or, for that matter, any place that is either in or shares a border with Arkansas.
There, now I've insulted religous people and the States of Texas and Arkansas. I think I've met my quota.
