It's definitely normal for it to go on for 7 or 8 days, but 10 days is getting on the long side.
It depends how old you are. If you're a teenager it's more normal to have longer periods. If you're older and this has been happening for a while, maybe you should get it checked out.
It wouldn't hurt to see a doctor, but at the same time I don't think it's anything to worry about.

When I started on a new birth control pill, I had a period that lasted 12 days, the doctors office told me it was because my hormones needed to adjust, after that i have periods for about 3 days.

Well, for the average woman, no. But for me it was the norm. Finally went had a procedure done by my ob/gyn which has cut back on the amount and duration of my periods tremendously. If this keeps up, ask your doc about an endometrium ablation. It worked miracles for me.

Yes, it's normal if it's once in a really long while. This could be due to several reasons: your period cycle is changing or your hormonal cycle is changing; or you are stressed out over something.
These reasons are what my doctor told me. Hope that helps!

Most women have periods from 4 to 7 days, have your periods always been like that? If its very unusual for you, you should talk to your dr. about it.

No, not really normal, but if it's normal for you, it's ok. Also, if it's light, it probably doesn't matter so much. Or if it has stopped for like a day, then resumed, that's not so abnormal.
