I use a variety of make-ups but I love both Mac and Covergirl. I use Covergirl blush, eyeshadows, and powder. I use Mac mainly for my eyeliner (the black powder and a small brush). I use Physician's Formula for my foundation and Clinique for my lipstick. I like Voluminous mascara. Use what works, not just because of the name.

MAC, it stays on forever, the colors are great! Covergirl is fine if your on a budget, since the only downfall to MAC is how pricey it can be. On a good month I average 100 at MAC.

The best makeup I have ever used is called Bare Escentuals. There is no creamy solution in any of their products. It stays on and on and on. I have some discoloration on my face and it covers it beautifully. Please give it a try, and I bet you will not ever try another thing. They have eye shadow, brow liner, blushes, foundations, lips. They are in QVC once in awhile but you can go on line and check out what they offer. Compared to what an average person pays for foundation, their product is really less expensive in the long run, because it is a powdery substance without talc and you face just has a healthy glow. No kidding.

They both have specific products that are great, but overall I would have to say covergirl. They have a great selection that suits all skin types, where Mac is more for makeup artists. MAC, by far! Cover Girl has a few decent products, but most of MAC's are excellent, not too many lemons in that line.

Cakey makeup means that you've worn too a lot makeup, type of like frosting on a cake. So in case you ever listen that element period, it purely means that a woman is wearing too a lot makeup (that would not seem organic in any respect). wish this helps :)

i absolutely love MAC super expensive but totally worth it, i use mac like everyday. my favorite is the eyeshadow half baked. its good for everyday or a nite out on the town! but covergirl has very good coverup. i dont kno i love them both.
