Personally I would research the economic impact on the local economy. It nearly bankrupted most of the community and the country when Greece held the last Olympics. The event was nearly cancelled more than once over concern they couldn't support adequate security measures, build stadiums, etc.

Could the same economic problems Greece suffered (Greece is a tourist economy at best I believe) happen in South Africa?

i dont know, i think its cool how its being held in south africa. i wanna go there when the world cup is there. ive heard its beautiful and stuff. and yeah, itll do good for the country. but, maybe you could say that after the world cup, it might change too much and not be its same old self again. :) haha, i dont know. are there any negatives you could use? like tourists might get confused by all the.. i dont know, cities? and it would cost too much money to make new fields and stuff (i saw on tv that they were making new ones). oh and how it is so hot there, well, thats what i heard. i dont know.

Infrastructure is poor
Stadiums are not up to European or east asia levels
Poor country would be better spending the gaziliion dollars for internal help like aids and povrety
Not a very common travelled country for most tourist
SA is not a well known soccer nation - not sure about how many people would actually follow the WC

Small pleasures look to teach you on.we could continuously dangle our heads that we've not even been in a position to qualify.i'm particular that fairly quickly,a similar destiny is searching ahead to the country in Hockey the position once upon a time we were reigning ultimate. Are we a group of losers or are we! Have an excellent Day.
