Make him understand that this is inappropriate behaviour. If this doesn't work provide a negative incentive. i.e. punishment. Don't slap him back!

well you need to stop violence at a young age or there will be no stoping it. Every time he slaps some one have them slap him back or do it your self. Take things he likes a way ground him. Make his life suck untill he stops slapping people. You can put him in a room with nothing in it. Make sure there is a light. every time he hits some one put him in there for an hour. Then next time two hours and the third time three hours. Just keep making it worse. Trust me he will get so sick of being board he will stop in time.

slap him back - I'm assuming that this little kid is a brother or family of some sort - if he slaps you, slap him back so he knows how it feels - not hard, just to get the point across - the little kid won't like the idea of someone slapping him and will stop

Slap the kids mom.......don't know how much you are in control such as being able to discipline the brat. But sit or stand the little one in the corner with their nose in the corner , be creative I guess it would be against the law to get a cattle prong and shock their hind end everytime they did it. Just not much help am I?

You slap him as hard as he slap other people, maybe even harder. That would teach him to do unto others as he want done unto him, and if he keep doing it after that, just slap him every 10 min in the same spot, he will eventually stop, trust me, I know.

I say samething slap him ( not where your gonna hurt him) just to let him know that its not right ...then punish him take something away that he likes maybe a toy or tv for a week and explain to him why you are doing it...( anyway where did he pick up slapping someone )

Make sure you're not slapping him. Slapping isn't really instinctive; he had to have learned it somewhere.
If you catch him or her in the act, grab his wrist and say, "We don't hit." then send him to the corner or something.

Slap him. Show him what it feels like. Dont slap his brains out but show him what it feels like, I am sure he just need a sample.
