Trade the spaghetti strap shirt for something with sleeves and the high heels for casual sandals - mom would probably be more impressed with something a little more conservative.

How old are you? How old is he? How old are they? I was nervous when I met my fiancé's parents. I met his father while we were casually dating, but I didn't meet his mother until after we got back together after being broken up with no contact for over a year and I moved in with him and his father. (We weren't engaged at the time, so I was nervous that she may judge me on that.) Needless to say, wardrobe wasn't my main concern.

When my fiancé and I went on our first date, my parents dropped me off (I was 18 at the time and didn't have a car or a license and was getting ready for college) and my father commented on my date's appearance. (I met him at a bar and thought he was cute.) I don't think it was a good thing that he was dressed up in bondage gear and had his tattoos (then quarter-sleeves of skulls and such) exposed. My father, however, tends to be conservative and doesn't approve of much of anyone I date.

I guess my advice is to just be yourself and dress the way you would in your day-to-day life. Be yourself and don't stress yourself out over making a good first impression. Not to sound cynical, but this issue may come up again in the future. Learn from your experiences.

I wouldnt call that formal. You have "checkered" knee length shorts paired with a nice shirt and heels. Not too formal, just cute.

the outfit is very cute. you picked a cute outfit to meet his parents. don't forget to shake hands with them firmly and smile a lot. watch your table manners....unless his parents don't have any. also, when you're done eating, ask the parents if you can help clear the table.

it's very cute, i like it but would probably bring something to go over the spaghetti straps just in case they are more conservative than expected!
