This will sound weird but put lemon scented pine sol in the wash water. It help to kill the mold and mildew and makes it smell better

Let them sit in water and vinegar for a while. Mold is very toxic so you have to kill the bacteria. If you cant bleach them then use vinegar. Then wash, wash, wash over and over in warm sudsy water.
