No it is the sign of anxiety or fear some people myself included have had some severe nightmares that seemed so real that they had a problem called tachycardia (extremely rapid heartbeat) in response to an adrenalin rush due to real or percieved danger as in a stressfull situation where fear is experienced ie a bad dream nightmare or extreme anxiety or in embarasing social situations the only time I would worry is if you experience chest pains or shortness of breath an or numbness on one side of the body then I would call an ambulance and get tto an ER immediately those are symptoms of a heart problem usually a stroke or heart attack hope this helps gorbalizer

If you are having heart troubles that wake you up in the middle of the night it would definitely be a good idea to go see a doctor, just to be safe. However, it is possible that you are having anxiety attacks while you sleep. Maybe you had a dream that was stressful or scary and maybe you don't remember it. Whatever the true reason may be, a doctor would be the best one to ask for a diagnosis.

No, that is more likely a sign of an anxiety disorder. Checking with your doctor would be good, but make sure to talk about how much you worry about things, too, because that could be causing more problems than your heart, and is easily medicated.

Yes, it is a sign of a heart problem. Your heart should actually beat slower then normal when you are asleep. Maybe, if you were having a nightmare or something like that, it would be faster but not if you are sleeping normal.

How much do you work out? A sure sign that I am overtrained is an elevated heartrate when i wake in the morning. Mine is normally high 30s/low 40s. If I wake up and its 50+...I know its a good day to do no working out.
