I put eyeliner underneath my eyelashes to help them pop. I think it looks better than just on the top. I don't know why I do this but, for work, I put eyeliner only from the middle to the end going toward my ear. For night, all the way across. (I must have seen it in a magazine or something.)

I wouldn't put eyeliner by my tear duct because it can get in your eye and then you wind up with bloodshot eyes. It's bad enough when you get eye makeup remover in your eye. If you wear contacts, DEFINITELY don't put it next to your tear duct.

It's not that you "shouldn't" it's just that it doesn't look as good!

Eyes look prettier when they're slightly tilted upwards towards the outside. Eyeliner drawn all the way across the top but only about two thirds of the way along the bottom gives the illusion of this effect.

Some people can get away with eyeliner all the way round but it only looks good on girls with really big eyes. It's kind of a rocky look too, so it depends what you're going for!

Also, on a practical level it's more likely to smudge there since it's where your tear duct is.

I put my eyeliner on the bottom; I stop before I get to the tear duct. What I think looks terrible is when women put the eyeliner right below the lower eye lash. It makes them look like racoons.

I have always heard its best to only put it on top. If you put it all around it makes your eyes appear to be smaller. If I ever put eyeliner on the bottom I only do it partially across and blend it really well so it just looks smoky and not defined. I put it near the outside. I put eyeliner on the top all the way to my tear duct and its never bothered me. I also put a little highlighter there as well (white shimmery eye shadow) to make it pop a little more.

the eyeliner can clog your tear duct and cause serious problems with the moisture in your eyes. instead of putting the eyeliner on the rim of your bottom lid try putting the color just below your lashes. this will give your the same effect and as a bonus it will make your lashes seem fuller without mascara.

There is really no reason other than what you mentioned and also because it may get into your eyes, but doesn't all makeup have the chance of doing that? It is very in right now to apply eyeliner on the bottom of your eye. If it doesn't bother your eyes, do it. I think it looks awesome.

It could cause a serious eye infection. But if you want that seductive glamorous look, put it under your bottom lash line, and blend it to acheive this.

If your not careful you can cause a serious infection but it's ok if you use a good one that is waterproof and smudge proof. Try Chanel's Crayon Blk WP. It will get the job done.
