Nope, it's one of the greatest shows out there as it doesn't talk down to its audience. Carter goes into long explanations using quite heavy concepts in Physics and Quantum Mechanics, often with no dumbing down during or after.
Also for a slightly limiting design in a secret military base, there is actually a lot of character development over the years and continually engaging storylines and storyarcs. True there are episodes that are largely expositional involving long depates over whether the SGC should be allowed to continue, but even these help to move the grander story arc along.
I'm currently collecting the magazine series with the DVDs so I can collect the lot.

Not at all! The characters have such depth--especially those we've known for 10 years--that each episode feels like an adventure with old friends, rather than the random group of people who comprise the casts of most shows. The history is fascinating (especially the way it gets twisted), the science is actually REAL science, and the current storyline is VERY relevant to today's issues.
But the characters are the true gem of this record-setting scifi series (the U.S.'s longest CONSECUTIVELY running science fiction television series): most especially Doctor Daniel Jackson, aka He-Who-Cannot-Be-Killed-But-If-You-DO-Manage-to-Kill-Him-He's-Not-Likely-to-STAY-That-Way!
As for why it hasn't been renewed for an eleventh season: the SciFi channel got greedy. Any TV show which has been running for ten years gets very expensive to make, especially given that Union rules require wage increases for all cast and crew. Bridge Studios was paying 10-year salaries to Amanda Tapping, Chris Judge, and Michael Shanks PLUS adding big names Beau Bridges, Ben Browder, and Claudia Black to the payroll. Yowch! So of COURSE MGM was going to charge the SciFi channel a little more to air the show... it only makes sense, right?
Nope, says SciFi. "If MGM came to us for less..." said Mark Stern, executive vice president of original programming at Sci Fi.

I do love almost any kind of science fiction (if not animated). Therefore nothing of those is boring to me, and so is SG-1
Maybe anybody can tell me a good website for scifi where trailors or whole movies can be downloaded?

I love SG-1, but I don't care for SG Atlantis. This will be the last season for SG-1, so we'll be off in reruns now.

An army of twelve-foot moles driving channel-tunnel drilling machines would be less boring...
