It varies from state to state. In some places, you don't need any certification. In other states you must be licensed. Do some online research in your state. I'd suggest typing in google:

a certification and license and insurance is needed for waxing, nails and hair technicians, unless you just do shampooing, as if you make a mistake, or burn someone with the wax you can be held liable for damages to the person.

yep.. thats why they have those stores for only licensed people.... you can be held liable if u hurt/burn someone....
