Being willing to fight for, to stand up and protest for what your country stands for which are the rights and liberties provided by the constitution of the USA.

Good question! Also a good answer by coragryph. I pretty much concur. Doing what is necessary within the boundaries of the law to protect your country.

Not to be confused with patriotic. I feel that I am patriotic, but I've never served my country in the armed forces or as a civil servant. Although I would do so if called upon.

Patriotism is love of country. Not to be confused with nationalism, which is devotion to government. One can love one's country yet despise one's government and be a patriot. The US Government is not a country, it is a corporation of self-interest.

Being not afraid to speak up when you feel the country is going in the wrong direction especially against bullies like the conservatives who try to intimidate everyone into believing their way is the right way.

An outdated custom, useful only when aggression, threats, and war were the means of dealing with other countries. As opposed to the civilized method: trade.
