I posted this earlier in Television but I think it would be a good social question. Living on the street, sleeping in cardboard boxes, competing for food in dumpsters, winning McDonald Gift Certificates as prizes.....Fighting for corners to wash windshields, making fashionable attire from old newspapers, dodging the local gangs.

They could TRY to get a job, but remember they have no home, no money, just the clothes on their backs, no transportation, no food, no nothing...do you think the homeless should be able to teach them anything about survival on the street?

I think the proceeds from this show should go to shelters

Triniqueen;
I do not understand the meaning of your answer. It sounded sarcastic. I took it as though you felt I was being insensitive to the homeless, and you even suggested that I volunteer at a shelter, yet you have no idea what I do in my personal life...

My reasons for posting that question was because homeless people make there way out on the street, surviving everyday and no one is paying them a million dollars.....

Hi Annie, you make a very good point. With all the reality shows, and all the big money at stake, I think a survivor show would be a hit. Living on the street is allot more dramatic than any Hollywood TV show. I know this first hand. I got out of service in 1972, just out of viet nam. I had a hard ttime adjusting to what I wanted to do, and what I was doing. I ended up on the streets and box cars around this great country of ours. I lived in cardboard boxes, down on the railroad tracks, in the bushes, and just about anywhere I thought was a safe place. People look at you like hopeless individuals, dont want any part of you, and they fail to relize that society has put us here. For some people it is not by their choice that they are where they are. Our great society needs to learn compassion above all other beliefs. You may contact me if you care to at:

Um hello the homeless are in that show everyday!
The difference is they don't get to go home to their nice clean homes at the end of taping. YOU KNOW HOMES with real beds and FOOD!
I think you need to rethink that.
Volunteer at your local shelter.

The contestants are protected in the jungles by the whole stage set up, I do not think they will survive on the street the way some people have to do....But I would love to see them try.......

I have thought of this question also. I wonder how some of those middle-class, white bread people they have on Survivor and other reality shows would do if they were dumped in some of my rough Philly neighborhoods instead of a tropical island.

THIS would be a terrific show, and very easy to design.
It might force the tv-viewers to face some hard facts about reality, though. But there's lots of material there to mine, and there must be a way to stage it.

yes, but the risk of getting killed is probably 70% higher than being in the jungle compared to living in the slum. hell even the cameramen would probably get robbed during the filming. it could never happen because most of it would have to be simulated because there are people out there who will inflict harm no matter who's watching

Hahahaha that would be the best reality show. Couldn't you see the tricks they would have to do. Go to the dumpster and find your tribes supper...
