before you give a bid on a job next time you and the owner go look at the job first than if your mind sayes 40$ it`s an 100$ job. take this one and learn from it next time try to do the job on a hourly rate. Exp.8hrs X 10.00pH=80$.

You made a deal before you knew what you were getting into. Take the forty bucks and be happy. Mention to the landlord all the unexpected work you did and if he's nice, maybe he'll give you some more $$$. Otherwise, take the money and learn a lesson to find out what you are getting yourself into before you make an agreement.

You already made the deal with the landlord. But tell him what you found. And next time, make sure you both understand what you will and will not do.

Now, he might offer you more for the unexpected labor: Some landlords are actually decent sorts who will do that. But don't expect it.

YES! All of what you have to clean and move is definitely not worth $40.00. Ask him if he has seen the place.... tell him that $40.00 isn't enough and if he can't pay more for the job, then you will have to pass.

If he has seen the place then he is definitely taking advantage of you.

I think you are SOL (Sh*t out of luck) at this point. You should have went to him before you started and told him you were going to charge more, but hey I still think you should call him and ask for me I just don't think you will get it at this point.

You should try but it will be up to him if he pays it. If he wants to be ignorant about it, there probably isn't much you can do. Hopefully he'll understand and will pay what is reasonable.
