Abraham Lincoln stated, “I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me, and causes me to tremble for the safety of our country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people, until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the republic is destroyed.”

The small, but ruthless, group of men, the “money power” described by Lincoln, has stolen democracy from the American people. An ever-growing number of informed Americans, however, are fighting a brave, but desperate rear-guard action to retrieve that democracy. Will we give them our total support now, or simply sit back and watch as the entire planet is taken back to the dark ages? “The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.”

- Obsession with national security
- Religion and government intertwined

- Obsession with crime and punishment
- Rampant cronyism and corruption

So long as the USA exists, it will not be a fascist state. If that day comes, there will be a new name for the country. Pareto's observations hold true in all societies, not just here.

I would like to know who you are saying is trying to revive our democracy so that I can learn more about them. I agree that good men must act, and add that good men must educate themselves on what actions to take.

Money and Power people like rappers, rockstars, celebrities, pro-athletes included? Last time I check...it's called CAPITALIZM...and it is and has been the American way since the get-go of this nation. The more the rich make the more that they filter down onto the other not so rich and mid to low classes as well.

There is nothing Fascist about that.

Islamofascist in about 16 years.

My guess is America will convert to Islam rather than fight for America's freedom of religion.

Islamofascist are already at work in the Midwest. Several depressed and near abandoned city's have been bought and Muslims from outside the United States have moved in.

This will grow to a National movement after the next election.

Go big Red Go

Lincoln was a smart man who knew when to listen and when to speak and I agree with him.
I share a love of reading and also experience depression as he did and I beleive he tried to do his best for this country.
He was right about what is happening and what will happen and I will not be silent about it either.
Those who deserve don't get as it has been taken from them.

Really, that question depends in part on the outcome of the elections in November. If we give power to those willing to use it properly, at least temporarily, we have a chance to put off fascism. However, if we choose to elect officials that are willing to allow the administration to monitor the country's citizens without warrants, arrest its citizens and hold them without trial, and show complete disregard for the values and principals that this country was built on, I give us to 2008 at best.
