Given f(x)= x^(3) + 4x - 2 , write the equation of the line that goes through f(0) and f(1)?

f(0) means x=0 and f(1) means x=1
when x=0 f(x) = -2 therefore the line passing through (0,-2)
when x=1 f(x) = 3 therefore the line passing through (1,3)

using (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)=m, we find that
m = 5 and since f(0) = -2, c = -2

substituting m=5 and c=-2 into y=mx+c,
we get y=5x-2

From conditions of the problem, we obtain:f(0) = -2 and f(1) = 3.
Let the equation of the line be given by g(x).
Then, in conformity with provisions of the problem , it follows that g(x) passes through (0,-2) and (1,3)
So, (g(x) +2) /x = 5;
or, g(x) = 5x -2; which is the required equation of the line and therefore the solution to the problem under reference.

First locate the slope: m = (y? - y?) / (x? - x?) = (4 + a million) / (-3 + 2) = -5. Now choose a level and construct the line euqation with x, y and m. enable's choose the first element: y - y? = m(x - x?) y + a million = -5(x + 2) y = -5x - 10 - a million y = -5x - 11.

I don't do other people's homework. This should be pretty easy.
What is f(0) (set x = 0 and what do you get?)
Now, what is f(1)?

OK - you've got two points on a straight line.
You know that a straight line is y = mx + b, and you know what y is for x = 0 and x = 1.
figure out what m and b are...

F(x) = x³ + 4x - 2
F(0) = -2
F(1) = 3

F'(x) = 3x² + 4
F'(0) = 4
F'(1) = 7

F'(x) = (Y - y) / (X-x)

@ (0,-2)
4 = (Y +2) / (X -0)
4x = y +2
y = 4x -2

we can also use @ (1,3)
7 = Y -3 / (x-1)
7x -7 = y-3
y = x-4

we solve
y = 4x -2
y = x - 4
_____________
3x = -2
x = -2/3
y = -14/3
y/x = 14/2

then the equation:
y = 7x

f(0)=-2 and f(1)=3
the ordered pairs are (0,-2) and (1,3)
slope=y2-y1/x2-x1=5
yintercept=-2
y=5x-2
