Get a Macintosh! They have the fast Intel Duo Cores, and they are immune to all known Windows viruses. Unless you install and run Windows on them, of course! Then you'll need to use AV software.
The Mac Pro is less expensive than a comparably equipped Dell, and it can handle 16 GB of RAM, not just 4 or 8. Check out the Apple store online.
-- The AMD chips are NOT faster than the new Duo Cores, and the one in the Mac Pro is 64-bit, but more importantly, Apple's implementation of 64-bit is better, since both 64-bit and 32-bit applications AND drivers can run togehter in one version of the OS, so you don't need to pay for multiple copies of Windows to run different programs.

forget INTEL
go for the AMD the 64 bit machine is by far like 2 times faster than the fastest Intel chip around
and power consumption is very low
so it heats ur chip a lot less
