What voice of reason are you speaking of? The voice that says that you can do whatever you want and no one can condemn it? The one that says you can be an example of shameless immorality and it's okay? The voice that says let me do what I want and you look away? The one that says it's okay to take away from anyone that works hard and prepares for the future to give to those that leach off the system? The one that says that music and media have no effect on our children though organizations spend millions on advertising because music and media does have an effect on everyone...especially children? The one that says it's okay to tax people at over 40% and want more (add up all the taxes you pay, the fees you pay on phone bills, car tags, permits, tolls and the like)? The voice that says if we just give the terrorists what they want or ignore they exist they will leave us alone (that worked for Clinton didn't it...911)? The voice that says that if you just reason with bad people then they won't do the horrible things they do? The voice that says you only need to point a finger at everyone and everything in your life that was not nice to you so you don't have to take blame for you own actions? The voice that says I only need to read a poll to decide my political philosophies? Lord help us if that's the voice of reason.

Reason has been abandoned for all Almighty Sound-Bite.

Reason has been shouted down, and kicked into submission by people screaming mindless rhetoric. And Reason cannot prevail as long as people are determined to make irrational decisions based purely on emotional manipulation from those in power.

And sadly, in a free society where everyone is allowed to shout as much as they want, that's not going to change until the people screaming and yelling choose to shut up. And that's not going to happen as long as they are getting what they want -- attention.

When libraries remove astrology from the philosophy section. When broadsheets report on the news and not on gossip.
When people stop trying to put religion into the classroom.

When people wake up and realize that neither party represents the average working American.

Both of our current parties have been hijacked by special interests.

It may take a serious 3rd. Party.

For my two cents worth, it will be when the majority in the House and Senate aren't displaced lawyers!
Lawyers and their pedantic legalese mind games and smoke and mirror tactics can turn "reason" inside out. And it does.
