I just found it in my room and its never been sent (oops) He is away and can not cash it---well, I don't want to give up to him because we thought it was lost but anyway, I don't have the reciept anymore but its a postal money order. It is written out to him, address and all...but can I just use it/cash it?

Take a good look at the money order.. there is usually an expiration date on there somewhere..if not.. I would contact teh place you got the money order from and ask what their policy is.

I believe that only he can use it, as it's under his name. A money order is still valid, as it's just like cash - you paid money for it and it's then worth that amount (and it's not like a gift certificate - there's no expiry date). But, like a check, it's only valid for the person to whom it's written out to, and if that person isn't you, then you won't be able to use it.
If you want a 'refund' on the money order, you'll have to go back to the bank you first got it at and see if they'll do that for you, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to - definitely worth a try though!!

(although if you have a joint bank account with your husband, then you actually might be able to deposit it in there, as it's under both of your names)

Craigslist has HUGE BOLD SCAM WARNING -----> BIGGER THAN THIS TYPE !!!! I always wondered if people don't read them. Now I know, people do not. And these people must buy, and scammers know this and still prey for more victims on CL. so, if you missed ALL THOSE WARNINGS ........ here is directly from the CL website. How to recognize a vehicle scam attempt on CL: Shipping a vehicle to you is suggested by seller eBay Motors or another intermediary is specified by seller Payment by Western Union or a money wire is requested Price is unusually low (fraction of blue book value) If you see these tell-tale signs, flag ad as "prohibited" and avoid Offers to ship a vehicle are virtually 100% fraudulent eBay has no involvment in craigslist for sale ads, and any eBay or similar emails or web pages you receive are fake Never use Western Union or wire transfer to pay for goods - only a scammer will ask for this, and any funds sent will be lost Do not buy vehicles sight-unseen, regardless of low price. The vehicle does not exist, and any money you send will be lost. Stories about divorcees or departing servicemen needing to sell quickly at a low price are generally fraudulent If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

It depends.

1st, check the money order to see the expiration date. They all have one, typically it's 30-90 days and sometimes up to 6 months. If it is expired, you might be able to get it re-issued, if not, then you will not be able to cash it.

2nd, if it is not Expired, and you both own a joint checking/savings account, just deposit it in the ATM. Certain banks don't require a signature for certain items, or you can just attempt his signature and sign it over to yourself, sign it yourself and see if they will deposit it.

3rd option would be to call the bank the check was issued from and let t hem know you lost it, and just found it. See if they will issue a new one if expired, or find a local branch of theirs to cash it at.

4th option would be to head to your local chech cashing place that doesn't require I.D. and just forge your husbands name and cash it there. I do believe they charge a small percentage to cash those types of checks.

Im a teller at a bank and I think you can, since you bought it for him and if you and him have to same address you can just write not used for purpose intended on it I think and cash it or deposit it. They will most likely make you deposit it first for legal precaution.

You can put it in your bank account as long as he is on it.....just deposit it like a check, or go ask the place you bought it from...they should also beable to answer that as well more throughly.
